He's Grrrrrrrreat!

Tony the Tiger sure has had a lot of work done over the years!
Born in 1952 as part of a contest, Tony beat out less popular Katy the Kangaroo, Elmo the Elephant and Newt the Gnu to become the official mascot for Kellogg's Frosted Flakes. Tony is father to Antoinette and Tony Jr, who had his own short lived spin-off cereal Frosted Rice and went on to replace his father in the early 2000's!
While nothing shows devotion to your favourite cereal mascot like a life-size bedazzled chain...

Junkfood has you covered this Fall with this (much more practical) retro Tony the Tiger tee! And if Froot Loops are more your thing, there's a Sam the Toucan tee.

Thirteen nights until Halloween...

If you can not wait for the night of ghouls, haunts, and candy to come, here are thirteen not-so-scary Halloween movies you can enjoy!
1. It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
This is a Halloween classic! While the rest of the Peanuts gang get ready for a Halloween party, Lunus hangs out in a pumpkin field hoping to catch a glimpse of The Great Pumpkin. It is said The Great Pumpkin rises from the pumpkin patch and brings toys to all the good girls and boys, and something rises from the patch alright: Charlie Brown's beagle, Snoopy.
FUN FACT: After this special originally aired, children all over the country sent candy to Charlie Brown out of sympathy
2. Beetlejuice
3. The Addams Family
4. Hocus Pocus
Another Halloween classic. The Sanderson sisters aren't just strange, they're three witches resurrected from the dead and they're back for revenge. Their goal is to steal the life from children and become immortal. The only thing stopping them is three children named Max, Dani, and Allison and their cat guide, Binx.
FUN FACT: This movie was directed by Kenny Ortega, who also directed the High School Musical phenomenon.

5. Halloweentown
6. Scooby Doo
7. Casper
8. Bedknobs and Broomsticks
9. Ghostbusters
10. The Nightmare Before Christmas
The great thing about this movie is it can be watched during Halloween and Christmas. Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King, is tired of the same old routine. He stumbles upon Christmas Town and is taken by surprise. He becomes so fascinated with his discovery, he decides to take over Christmas that year with the help of the Halloween Town residents.
FUN FACT: An excerpt from the Batman theme can be heard when the search-lights are looking for Jack.
11. The Haunted Mansion
12. The Corpse Bride
13. Mom's Got A Date With A Vampire

One more sleep...

...until the release of Where the Wild Things Are! And the amazing fan art just keeps on coming. Anna the Red has created these mind-blowingly awesome bento boxes inspired by the beloved children's book! For those not familiar with bento, Anna explains:

"In Japan, a lots of moms wake up early to make bento for their kids and their husbands. And often, they make cute animals or characters from anime shows out of food, so that kids will enjoy eating healthy food. Those bento are called “Kyaraben” or “Charaben”. (character bento)"

Her blog is really worth a look, and contains plenty of step by step instructions on how she prepares these lunches for her lucky boyfriend!

Junk Food in Japan!

Japanese gyaru (meaning "gal") fashion has exploded overseas in the past couple of years, with people looking to the hyper fashionable streets of Shibuya and Harajuku for inspiration. The Shibuya 109 building in Tokyo - with 10 floors of the wildest clothing and accessories imaginable - is the place to be, but there are also a huge number of magazines catering to the gyaru market that will help keep you on trend!
J-List and Amazon Japan offer subscriptions to many popular titles. Egg, Ranzuki, Poshh! and Koakuma Ageha showcase some of the most colourful and extravagant styles to come out of Tokyo.
Unfortunately, many of the brands pictured in these magazines are extremely difficult to find outside of Japan. So when I was flipping through a recent issue of Ageha, I was suprised to spot one of my favourite models Rin looking mega adorable in Junk Food's long sleeve thermal featuring Smurfette!
Team it with some bright leggings, or these Junk Food Strawberry shorts and some knee high tube socks for a cute look!
Oh, and don’t forget to keep your hair and makeup on point! The Cherrypop blog is regularly updated with scans from all the latest gyaru magazines and is a great place to get started.

NFL Week 4

Men all over America are jumping with joy because it's football season. Week four concluded last night as the Vikings gave the Packers a run for their money. For you trivia junkies, Brett Favre is the only player in history to defeat every single team in the NFL. Second piece of trivia…teams that start 4-0 have an 86% chance of making it to the playoffs. You’re 4-0 congrats to...

Are you mad as a hatter?

The new Alice in Wonderland movie doesn't come out until March 5th, but you can satisfy your craving for Alice right now with these new Junk Food tees:
- We're All Mad Here
- Cheshire Cat Smile
- Alice
- Drink Me

Or if you're looking for something else to satisfy your craving, here are a few adaptations of the Lewis Carroll classic you can check out:

For our gamers, there's American McGee's Alice, which brings a whole new meaning to "We're all mad here." Set after Through the Looking Glass, Alice loses her family to a fire caused by her pet cat. Due to the guilt she feels for being the lone survivor, she attemps suicide and is put into an asylum. It is there the White Rabbit calls for her to help out a darker Wonderland under the rule of the Queen of Hearts.

For a more light hearted story, there's the Adventures in Wonderland TV series. Long before Hannah Montana, Disney Channel ran this live action series featuring a girl named Alice who lived everyday like a normal child, but when she got home she could step inside her mirror and land in Wonderland where she hung out with its people tackling issues like racism.

Then there's always Disney's animated classic Alice in Wonderland. This version is what made blue the most popular dress color for Alice and blonde for her hair. It is probably the most recognized film adaptation of Carroll's tale. This movie also inspired the popular youtube video Alice by Pogo. The song uses sound samples from the movie to create an electronic and catchy tune.

Do you have a different Alice adaptation you enjoy? Post about it in the comments section. :)

What's in a name?

It’s Sunday afternoon and you’re flipping back and forth between football games, suddenly you find yourself pondering about the origins of NFL team names.

Okay, maybe you’re actually paying attention to the game, but at some point you’ve probably asked yourself, “what were they thinking when they named that team?”

Often we don’t think about NFL team names because they’ve been around for so long, or they’re named after some type of ferocious animal. And sometimes the names are actually relevant to the geographic location of the team: Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers, just to name a few.

And then there are some head scratchers: New York Giants, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, San Diego Chargers, Tennessee Titans…who named these teams? Was New York once inhabited by very large beings? Do the people of Cleveland REALLY love the color brown? Does San Diego have an abundance of electricity?

Here are some favorites:

The least intimidating mammal: Miami Dolphins

The least creative name: Houston Texans

The sweetest name: New Orleans Saints

The least frightening bird: Arizona Cardinals

Candy Countdown!

With Halloween just around the corner, we've got one thing in mind - sweet sweet CANDY!
Here's 5 songs that'll give you a sugar rush.

5. MC Pee Pants (aka MC Chris) - I Want Candy
Aqua Teen Hunger Force fans will remember this annoyingly catchy song from episode 9, where Meatwad and Carl become addicted to Hip Hop and candy after listening to MC Pee Pants' new album.

4. The Dan Band - Candy Shop
Featured in The Hangover, L.A-based comedy group The Dan Band have a smooth take on one of 2005's most popular rap songs. Who would have thought 50 Cent could sound this classy?

Also featured in The Hangover is this Junk Food tee:
- Human Tree

3. New Young Pony Club - Ice Cream
Okay, so its not technically about candy....but we'll let that slide. The video itself has enough lollipops, gumdrops and chocolate syrup to make your teeth implode! Yow!

2. 69 Boyz - Tootsee Roll
The first single from Miami Bass and Hip Hop group 69 Boyz back in '94 - and their most successful - Tootsee Roll is as catchy today as it was then!

Get your groove on with these Junk Food tees:
- Let Me See Your Tootsie
- Tootsie Rollin'
- That's How I Roll

1. Cameo - Candy
What do 2Pac, Mariah Carey, Will Smith and the Black Eyed Peas all have in common? They all sampled this funk classic!

'Candy' reached number one on the R&B charts in 1987, and for good reason! The guitar solo alone is enough to make me want to drop everything and perfect my Electric Slide. And don't even get me started on that saxophone! Sure, the video is a little goofy (uh...codpiece, anyone?) but it has that undeniable 80's charm.

Got a favourite candy related song? Let us know in the comments section! :D

Looking for a new DS game?

Look no further than Kingdom Hearts: 385/2 Days. The game takes place in between the first and second game but don’t let that fool you. You should definitely play the second game before you touch this one. (You don’t want to risk spoiling the plot twists in two. Believe me!)

The game plays a lot like the PS2 games (No crazy card battle system!), only the controls are different to work with the DS. The tutorial at the beginning is a bit time consuming and can be boring, but past that it’s crazy addictive. (This blogger may or may not already be on Mission 35. I'm just saying.) The story also pulls you in, and it's great for any KH fan who had unanswered questions about Roxas and Organization XIII.

For those of you who have never heard of Kingdom Hearts, it is a game series that features classic Disney characters like you’ve never seen them before. You play Sora and travel along to different world with Donald and Goofy defeating heartless and searching for your friends, Kairi, Riku, and King Mickey. With a star-studded cast (including Junk Food wearer, Hayden Panettiere) and an amazing story, it is easy to see why the game is so popular.

Have fun, gamers. :)
